The build up of greenhouse gases is a major issue for everyone. One way to minimize this may be to use nuclear power to provide some of the energy needs for the U.S. This book examines whether Alberta could make a major contribution to this, providing enough electricity from nuclear power plants to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 20%. It is also suggested that every Albertan should benefit directly from this, via a fee charged on all electricity sales. If so, it is estimated that every Albertan would receive approximately $32,000 each year, once all nuclear power plants are completed. During their lifetime every Albertan who is currently 20 years old would receive over $1,000,000, and possibly much more.
Potential benefits to every Albertan could last more than 60 years.
How feasible is this suggestion? After considering all the issues it appears possible, and more details of all aspects of this idea are given in the Summary section. Given this possibility, the aim of the book, and this website, is to stimulate widespread discussion throughout Alberta about this.
